Statement of support from North Sydney Council – Oct 3rd 2008

North Sydney Council has been, is and will remain, a strong supporter of the HarbourLink Project.North Sydney Council provided funding for the development of the concept and because it does not have the budget to undertake the project independently, is currently pursuing other funding opportunities.One of these is the preparation of a joint funding submission to Infrastructure Australia. This is being undertaken in conjunction with the City of Sydney and other councils, as a regional proposal is more likely to be successful than one that is perceived to be a local issue. The submission will seek funding for both the HarbourLink cycle way and other regional bike routes in inner Sydney.The Council has also funded the development of an eight-minute HarbourLink video, which is in the final stages of editing and will be released soon. The development of better cycling facilities has been a key part of the North Sydney strategy for more than a decade and will continue to be given priority by Council
